Health Update

I just wanted to update everyone on Jenna's health. We had a very emotional week! Jenna ran a fever again last week from Monday to Thursday. It ranged from 101.5-103.6. On Tuesday I brought her to the doctor where we were told her throat was red and that it looked like some sort of bacterial infection, so Jenna was put on an antibiotic. However after 48 hours on the medicine, Jenna was still running a fever so we ended up back at the doctor's office. She was extremely irritable there, throat still red, and fever so the doctor sent us to Doylestown Hospital for all sorts of blood tests. When we got the results Thursday night we were sent to Children's Hospital because two counts, SED Rate and CRP were extremely high. Apparently, all of this led the docotr to believe Jenna could have Kawasaki, so were were sent to Children's Hospital. There we stayed from 7-1:00 AM so that they could run all sorts of tests on Jenna. After 1 throat culture and 2 catherizations we were sent home with the consensus that it must be virus. Then Friday morning we got another call from our dr. and a cardialogist from CHOP who wanted an EKG and an eco done. They were looking for any inflamation, leaks, etc. in the heart which can be a side effect from Kawasaki. Thank God everything checked out normal. I am hapy to report that as of tonight Jenna has not run a fever since Thursday. I am cautiously optimisitic because we had antoher spell without a fever where I thought we were past everything. Also, we may need another trip to the cardialogist because if it was Kawasaki there still remains a possibility of heart problems.
In the mean time both Mike and my mom have had a virus for a few days. Many of the symptoms were the same so it definitely is a possibility that Jenna just had back to back viruses. It is too hard to figure out, I just hope and pray that it is all behind us.
On a happier note, Jenna went on her first boat ride on Sunday. It was a nice little ride in the creeks and a little in the bay, and she loved it! She had a grin from ear to ear.

I am glad to hear Jenna is feeling better. What a scare for all of you. We will include her in our prayers and that she just keeps getting better and better. Give her a hug and a kiss from Aunt Barb. She has the cutest smile!! Take care of yourself Shannon. It is so hard when they don't feel well but you are such a good Mommy. All my love Aunt Barb
Shan, I feel so bad. Last I spoke to your mom Jenna was on the antibiotic and on the rode to recovery, or so we thought. I assumed no news was good news. I had no idea that all this was going on. I am so sorry Jenna had to go through all of those tests. I am so happy to hear that she is doing better this past week...I will pray that it continues. Love to all of you, Jennie
I am so glad Jenna is feeling better. You always feel so helpless when your baby is sick. I never even heard of Kawasaki before - only the motor cycle anyway. Hope everyone can relax a little now. She really loves anything to do with water doesn't she? Maybe she will be a Marine Biologist!
Ok, I so I had to Google Kawasaki to find out what you were talking about. I've only heard of Kawasaki motorcycles. I had no idea all of this was going on either. I know my mom talked to your mom sometime last week and she was watching Jenna. I asked how Jenna was doing and my mom said she was ok. I never heard all of these details before! Hope all is still well now!
Yeah, when I called Mike to tell him the doctor was afraid of Kawasaki, he thought I was saying it wrong. Anyway, thankfully Jenna is still doing better. My mom watched her last Thursday because Mike and I had Beauty and the Beast tickets in NY, a birthday/anniversary gift. So we went to dinner and the show. I hadn't been to NY since Aunt Barb and the gang were out. It is definetely something to do from time to time.
Anyway, Jenna has not run a fever in abou 10 days. She goes back to the docotr on Thursday, so we will see what he has to say.
We are back from the doctor and so far so good. They will repeat the blood work in 2-3 weeks, this way there is enough time for the counts to return to normal.
Jenna will have her 15 month check up which was supposed to be during this whole mess in July on Sept. 5th. We want to make sure she is healthy for a bit before giving her 2 more vaccinations!
Hey Shan, I am so happy to hear that Jenna is doing better. She had us all really worried. Let's pray that her counts are all normal by her next blood tests. I guess Jenna has proven that she wants to keep you on your toes.
Looking forward to seeing all of you next week... it came so fast! XO Jennie
