Jenna had a doctor appointment on Monday. Her weight was 9 lbs, 3 ounces, so she is gaining weight nicely. The jaundice is gone, which was great to hear so now we are on to the next health issue. Jenna has a clogged tear duct in her right eye, which basicly means her tears are having trouble draining through her nasal passage. So unlike most newborns, she will get tears out of that one eye. Apparently this happens with some newborns and it just takes some time to open up. However, her tear duct got infected so we were getting a lot of crusties from that eye. The doctor put her on an antibiotic eye ointment. We have to put it between her bottom lid and her eyeball three times a day for seven days.
As far as everything else, Mike and I have been adjusting. We adore our little girl, though we will admit it is taking some time to get used to the new sleeping patterns. I have been lucky though because I have been able to get 2 hour intervals through the night on most occasions. Overall, she is a good baby and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it continues.
